Challenges

Downer needed to install 30km of new fibre cable from Lumsden to Riversdale to Balfour, one Southern Scenic Route and the major cycling trail of New Zealand.

Solution

We proposed using our experience team with the help of our specialised machine ST2 trencher, 14t excavator, 3.5t excavator and Class 2 Trucks to trench and install the new cables.

We designed and provided our own traffic management for the duration of the project.

​

Result

We were installing from 300 up to 2,600 meters of new trench daily using the ST2 trencher in the berm along the road.

This trencher is extremely versatile and has the capability to trench in soft, medium, and hard ground without any changes.
